💫 Introduction to Castanets – All Levels

A lovely opportunity to start (or improve) your castanets technique and add a new dimension to your flamenco ✨

I’ll be taking part in Race for Life at Regent’s Park with my partner, Wayne. This date is deeply personal to me. It would have been my father’s birthday.

I am running in memory of Mimi, Nano, Yayo, Urbano and Javi. I carry them with me in every step. I am also running for my students who are bravely facing cancer right now. For those who have beaten it and continue to inspire me with their strength. And I am running in hope — hope that research continues to change outcomes, extend lives, and one day prevent other families from experiencing this pain.

Fun and engaging flamenco classes designed especially for children from 3 to 5 years old. Through rhythm, movement, coordination exercises and simple choreography, young dancers develop musicality, confidence and creativity while discovering Spanish culture.

These classes nurture coordination, rhythm and self-expression while encouraging imagination and teamwork in a joyful and supportive environment. Children are introduced to the foundations of flamenco in an age-appropriate way, helping them build confidence and enjoyment through dance.

​Vengo (2000), directed by Tony Gatlif, is a visually and musically rich exploration of flamenco culture, family, and tradition in Andalusia, Spain. Driven by rhythm and emotion, the film offers an intimate portrait of a deeply rooted artistic practice.

Flamenco Dance Classes for Improvers at Danceworks every Thursday!

We will work on the placement of the body, the perception of the rhythm, clapping, footwork, and movements of arms and head.

Choreography depends on the level: Alegrías, Bulerías, Tangos, Soleá, etc.

If you have dancing shoes and clothes, bring them. Otherwise, don't worry, feel comfortable to dance!
